Posted 9 years ago, 21 Jul 2015 by Tommy Daly Profile Tommy Daly

We are now adding the finishing touches to the Community Garden in Delmege Park, we have so far completed the new footpaths and flowerbeds, we are continuing the work and progress on the new stone grotto which will be placed on the center back of the garden, this will overlook the garden and bring a sense of peace and tranquility to everyone who enters, we have spent many weeks on the garden and are happy with the progress that has been so far, once again, a big thank you to all those who have so far helped us get to this stage, we are far from complete but shall be at this rate of work and community teamwork, Tidy Towns 2015 is almost upon us and we wish to have this all done and dusted by August where hopefully we gain a better result than we have before.

The Moyross Residents Alliance would like to thank Brother. Franchi for all the work he done with the kids of Moyross and especially with all the work he done with the community and the garden in Delmege Park, for the songs he sang at Christmas each year with the kids and at the parties, the residents use to love him for the sing-song, we would also like to thank all the brothers for a great week of summer camp which was held in the square in Delmege Park, the kids enjoyed all the games that were held even with the bad weather that was upon us, we would also like to thank Mark Hester, and the contractors, Angela Mc Namara, Donal Mc Namara, Deirdre Murphy, Thomas Daly Jr, Jamie Daly, David Mc Namara and Jessica Carey, with a special thanks for Lisa Daly who painted the family tree on the wall in the garden with all the kids hand-prints, things are starting to look good in Delmege Park, God be with the Brothers and thanks to all the volunteers and neighbors that helped.

First class work done by Limerick City Council.

Posted 9 years ago, 26 Jun 2015 by Tommy Daly Profile Tommy Daly

The Moyross Residents Alliance, would like to thank Michael O' Kelly who is head of the limerick regeneration and Derick Stundun from the Limerick City Council, they have resolved a few issues in Delmege Park involving damage walls, cracked footpaths and cracked drive-ways. The work originally done by contractors was flawed and left in a dangerous condition. The residence are now happy that it was redone and to a satisfactory standard and kids can play in these areas again.

New Facilities for Moyross

Posted 9 years ago, 02 Jun 2015 by Mark Hester Profile Mark Hester

We have had great news that the new Post Office replacing the Chinese Takeout will open shortly, allowing the people of Moyross and areas to send mail, collect money and to send money, we had campaigned with TD's and Councillors to get this business open and it is of great fortune that one has been built so quickly, we do hope they succeed in the new business, The local shop next door to this has also installed a new PayZone, which can be used for pay as you go cards and topping up your credit when its low, these new facilities are a great welcome and we want to thank them for working here in Moyross.

Regeneration funding for Non-Regeneration Projects

Posted 9 years ago, 26 Mar 2015 by Mark Hester Profile Mark Hester

It has come to the attention of the Moyross Residents Alliance that the Limerick College (LIT), have made a request for funding of €15,000,000 from the regeneration and other bodies for a new building, for something they call an innovation centre, these funds that are available to the regeneration should have been directed to the work they are suppose to do and which they continuously fund for money and yet waste it when they accumulate it. The people who live in these regeneration areas have been once again been let down by the promises set many years ago, they will have to continue to live in bad conditions until money has been spent wisely by the regeneration project. An innovation centre would be a benefit for the future of Limerick, however the plans they expressed two years ago at Thomand Park, did not involve putting any money towards LIT, that it would be purely based on a new idea of rebuilding communities for a better future known as the Limerick Regeneration Implementation Plan. The most beneficial part as seen by many people would be to start production of the new road from Coonagh Cross to Moyross, this would open up new employment and give access to business and schools that people could not previously get to. We would also like to see new houses being put in places of demolished ones filling the gaps that the regeneration have left, where perfectly good houses have been taken down instead of being upgraded. The Moyross Residents Alliance placed injunctions against the council and regeneration agency six years ago to prevent any of that happening, however they managed to speed up their efforts before the letters from our solicitors were handed to them, this was a total abuse of human rights and frowned upon by everyone. Questions regarding any of the above can be discussed by Mr Tom Daly (Chairperson of the Moyross Residents Alliance) at his Mobile number : '086 305 8049'.
